Don is a GD&T instructor and expert tolerance stacks analyst. His real world experience is 38 years in the design drafting area of the mechanical engineering field. His previous position was 10 years as a Quality Specialist for a large aerospace engineering firm. There he specialized in tolerance analysis and optimization of production designs. The last 4 years there saw the addition of teaching and mentoring of GD&T to his list of skills. Prior to that Don spent 20 years reading, writing, interpreting, applying, checking and analyzing GD&T as a senior designer of aircraft engine components and assemblies. Don is an honors graduate from Morehead State University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology with area of concentration in drafting and design. Don conveys his vast knowledge and understanding of GD&T as a design philosophy and a design tool with a plain, direct, well explained presentation in the classroom.

Jim has over 40 years’ experience in manufacturing, design, and training. His effective training skills have enabled him to conduct many in-house and public seminars worldwide on Engineering Drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in both the ASME and ISO standards. Following a 20-year career in aerospace manufacturing, Jim was an integral part of the “Dream Team of American Manufacturing” and led a Harley-Davidson power-train manufacturing and assembly plant as part of Harley’s historical turn-around in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. He was eventually responsible for the turn-around effort at three other manufacturing facilities before focusing his talents and efforts on the next generation of manufacturing employees.
Jim has worked in several different industries including extensive experience in aerospace, gas turbine engines and power generation. This diverse experience allows him to bring practical examples to the classroom. His students generally describe him as “the best instructor they ever had” as he makes a sincere effort to relate difficult material in a down-to-earth manner, and best of all, he makes learning fun.
